KEY VERSE: And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. Luke 7:38, KJV
TOPIC I. EXTRAVAGANT LOVE (LUKE 7:37-39)
TOPIC II. EXTRAVAGANT FORGIVENESS (LUKE 7:40-48)
REMEMBER IT: Many of us approach God with hopes to be blessed. Many pray for God's anointing to rest upon us. The woman in our lesson today chose to bless God by anointing Jesus. In her, we see a glimpse of extravagant love. Although unworthy to be in the midst of the gathering, she boldly presented her offering to Jesus. When others are aware of our worthiness, they fail to see the good things we offer. Yet Jesus knew the bad, accepted the good, and offered forgiveness. In Jesus, we see the epitome of extravagant love. Remember that your sins are forgiven. Remember the offering of your life to God is a precious gift to God's Kingdom.
LIVE IT: We are repentant sinners, and God has been forgiving and gracious. Live your life with a hear of thanksgiving. Forgive others and continually respond to God's faithfulness with gratitude.
SHARE IT: God already knows our shortcomings and grants us mercy and grace. Sharing your testimony is a great way to help others know that God is gracious and faithful. Let your heart guide you as you find ways to personalize your praise to God. Encourage others by letting them know of God's extravagant forgiveness.
